Xining Public Housing 2024 will screen on a loop in Cinema B between 10.30am – 4.30pm on Sat 21 & Sun 22 Dec 2024.

After four decades of existence, the Xining Public Housing complex is set to be demolished. The unforgettable filming location for Tsai’s first telefilm All Corners of the World 1989 and his feature The Hole 1998, the complex has housed thousands of people. Tsai gives close attention to their community and rituals, carefully documenting residents and their living spaces, stalls and kitchens. A place of life and death, captured one final time.
