About

Monday – Saturday from 10.00am. Sunday from 12.00pm.

In November 2015, British filmmaker and 'Cinema Obstructed' co-curator, Charlie Shackleton crowd-funded Paint Drying, a film consisting of a single, unbroken shot of white paint drying on a brick wall.

It was intended to be viewed by a single audience: the UK's notorious film censorship board, which exerts de facto control over what can and cannot be seen in British cinemas. At the time, the board charged for its services on a per-minute basis, meaning the runtime of Paint Drying would be determined by the amount of money raised in its crowd-funding campaign. Ultimately, 686 backers helped extend its duration to 607 minutes, which were dutifully watched by the board across two days in January 2016, and rated U for "no material likely to offend or harm".

As part of 'Cinema Obstructed', the film will have its first public screenings anywhere in the world, allowing audiences to experience this tongue-in-cheek act of cinematic rebellion throughout the program in Cinema B.
