QAGOMA is committed to representing First Australian art and cultures through collection development, exhibition programming, identified employment and professional development, community liaison, engagement and participation. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) provides structure and accountability around the Gallery’s commitment to making meaningful changes.
The Gallery’s second RAP is in effect from January 2025 to January 2027, again at Reconciliation Australia’s Innovate level (level 2). Through this RAP, QAGOMA commits to a deeper consideration of how we share and understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rich cultural histories and stories.
As a conduit for the telling of stories by the world’s oldest continuous cultures, major cultural institutions like QAGOMA must ensure that Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples are empowered to be heard, which is why the Gallery strives to further increase our links with community, to be led by First Nations lived experience, knowledge and insight, and to honour cultural connections to Country.
The Gallery’s RAP is endorsed by the QAGOMA Indigenous Advisory Panel. We report on RAP implementation through our Annual Report.
